1. HanVoice – February 16th, 2010
On Tuesday February 16th, Mr. Jack Kim, the Executive Director of HanVoice came to the Monday morning assembly at Upper Canada College to offer a 20-minute-informational presentation about North Korean refugee crisis.
HanVoice is a human rights organization established in 2007 dedicated to ending the plight of North Korean refugees in China.
It was a brief yet comprehensive and condensed overview, explaining the crisis from its beginnings in 1990s to the oppression in the present day. It was also a very meaningful and great support for NKHRA in its goal to spread awareness as Mr. Kim was the first guest speaker from an N.G.O. to address the North Korean crisis at the school.

2. Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) - November 25th, 2010
LiNK was formed in 2004 by two passionate individuals who learned about what was happening in North Korea and wished to spread words about and take action for what had gone unnoticed for too long. The organization quickly grew and became one of the largest movements of activists in the U.S. empowered by the stories of refugees and motivated by the urgency of the issue.
s
LiNK’s work focuses on awareness through mobilizing the grassroots and telling the stories of hope and survival [of North Korean refugees]. We meet with governments, NGOs and institutions to advocate for the North Korean people, while working directly with refugees through a network of shelters in China and Southeast Asia – protecting, educating and assisting them to eventually find freedom and empower them to live new lives.
The NKHRA group at Upper Canada College is delighted to invite LiNK on November 25th to explain about the crisis to audience from inside and outside the school.
